How do you feel about hiring a private tutor?

Hi everyone! I was hoping I could get your opinions on the subject of hiring a private tutor. As an educator, I'm trying to get a sense of the how I can best serve adult students.

Would you ever hire a private tutor?
What would be your budget?
Where would you find this person?

In my experience as a teaching assistant at a university, the average returning adult student was extremely dedicated do doing their best work and getting good grades. The problem was that they had difficulty taking advantage of the free tutoring and office hours provided by the university due to their busy schedules. I'd love to tailor my tutoring services to better help adult students in my area.
